Iran jails 10-year-old US citizen for espionage

A court sentenced a US citizen to 10 years in prison on charges of espionage in the latest cases of dual nationals detained on security charges in the country, a judiciary spokesman said on Sunday.
The spokesman did not say the name of the convicted person and did not give details of when the sentence was issued but said he was an American citizen and held the nationality of a country other than Iran.
"This person who collected the information under the direct direction of the United States was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment but the sentence can be appealed," spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni Aghi said on state television.
It was not immediately clear if Mohsen Agai was referring to Nizar Zaka, a Lebanese citizen holding permanent residency in the United States. A US-based lawyer who defended Zacca told reporters in September he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment and a $ 4.2 million fine after being convicted of plotting against Iran.
