    10:10 - 22/07/2017

A spokesman for the Russian Baltic Fleet, Roman Martov, announced the launch of the first phase of the joint Russian-Chinese naval exercises in the Baltic Sea under the name of "maritime communication 2017.

"The joint naval exercises will continue until July 28 and will consist of two stages: Swahili and the Navy," Martov was quoted as saying by the TASS news agency. "It is the first time in the history of relations between the two countries that the Chinese navy ships visit the Baltic Sea."

"The General Command of the maneuvers from the Russian side will be represented by the First Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Vedotinkov, and the Chinese side will be the First Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief of the Chinese Navy, Vice Admiral Tian Chijun," Martov said.
