The Council of Kirkuk province, voted at the end of last March on a decision by the governor Najmuddin Karim, raising the flag of Kurdistan, the buildings of government departments and the main entrances to the province along with the Iraqi flag, which angered the central government. A day after the decision, dozens of Turkmen demonstrated in the province of Kirkuk in protest against the lifting of the flag of the region, considering the decision as "unilateral and illegal."
He accused the members of the Turkmen Front, the head of the provincial council in violation of the Constitution in the case of raising the flag of the Kurdistan region, and expressed Ribwar Talabani earlier on his willingness to appear before the court to declare the legality of the decision to raise the flag.
The House voted in early April to reject the decision to raise the flag of Kurdistan alongside the Iraqi flag over government buildings in the province. The governor of Kirkuk and the head of the provincial council rejected the decision of the House of Representatives.
Talabani said during a press conference on the outcome of the lawsuit filed against him on the decision to raise the flag of the Kurdistan region in the province of Kirkuk, "The issue we are dealing with is not the issue of Ribawar Talabani, but the issue of the flag of Kurdistan in Kirkuk and Kurdistan, the issue of all Kurds in all Around the world and even the issue of every Kurdistani, "indicating"

"
For his part, said the head of the defense team, the President of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, Karwan Osman, We have completed the study on all aspects of this issue and expect to resolve it in our favor at the next session.
