The New York Times: How Should I Deal with Stupid Children?

The New York Times published a report highlighting the attempt to reintegrate returning children from the inferno of a pro-European organization in Europe.

One of the children, a boy not more than nine years old, attacked his colleagues at school, saying they were just evil infidels worthy of death, so he was removed from school, according to the newspaper.

The boy spent two years away from home in a place where he learned to count from a whip on the back of a victim of torture, turning into a wild, violent and deeply troubled little boy. This child embodies the suffering of some 5,000 European men, women and children who have traveled to the territory under the control of a sympathetic organization since 2012.

Most governments are focusing on the security issue in the short term, ignoring the enormous needs of children affected by the consequences of organizing a returnee. Daniel Kohler, a fellow of George Washington University's radicalism program and a Berlin-based family consultant, said the boy "felt he was surrounded by bad people."

"It is interesting that these returnees from the hell of the organization face a very tough position, as most people prefer to see them dead or prosecuted by the judiciary and put them behind bars forever, while they are just children who are not guilty."

According to the newspaper, children under the authority of the organization go to school from the age of four, where they are subject to a school curriculum brutal.

Nikita Malik, a senior researcher at the Henry Jackson Research Institute in London, who studied educational materials for the organization, said: "The book of account in the ranks of the organization includes between its pages orange and bloom on the one side and tanks and military rifles on the other. Other ".

The newspaper reported that the specialist in psychology, Jean Kizilhan, a German Kurdish has directly examined the damage behind the curriculum of indoctrination followed by the organization of the state.

Kizilhan works to treat children who have witnessed rape, torture, murder or, in some cases, been forced to participate in the atrocities.

In this sense, Kizilhan believes that it takes at least two years of daily intervention by social workers, psychologists and teachers, so that these children have the opportunity to have a normal life.

The paper said that the security of children returning from war did not attract the attention of governments; as much as the security of their countries.

The authorities are focusing their efforts on monitoring ex-combatants, and children caught up in these events are simply not a priority. Governments are making no effort to evacuate their citizens from conflict zones. This is why Jessica Sures, who heads the anti-terrorist team in the Belgian municipality of Villefordshire, asked who would be held responsible when the wolf came back disguised in sheepskins.

The newspaper said that those wishing to return home will find the way to achieve this, no doubt. While ignoring policies based on fear and prejudice; the benefits of early intervention in the lives of children who have been turned into extremists, who are simply involved in more dangerous situations than ever before. At the moment, the fugitives risk the hell of organizing the state with their lives, where they may be killed or captured, knowing that they receive no assistance except when they enter a consulate or embassy of their country of origin.

At this stage, the nationality of any child born in Syria or Iraq must be verified, often through DNA testing. Once home, one or both of the child's parents may end up in prison, opening the door to many questions about childcare. In the meantime, the child should re-engage in the educational system. In this sense, many complexities require a thorough and comprehensive European-wide approach to dealing with these children.

The paper said that it was necessary to train teachers and social workers, and to develop clear guidelines on issues such as return to school. Emphasis should also be placed on protecting the child rather than demonizing the family.

Returning to the nine-year-old boy who attacked his classmates, his grandfather's safe arm and the love surrounding him were sitting in the school playground; he could see him to see other children as friends rather than enemies. After a year of careful supervision, the boy returned to school to complete his career as a normal child again.

The newspaper pointed out that children like this boy are considered innocent victims of war, as recognized by international law on this basis. But when it comes to the war against state organization, many seem to have already forgotten this fundamental truth.
