Saudi Arabia plans to sell a large share of Riyadh airport

Saudi Arabia is considering a plan to sell a stake in Riyadh airport as it seeks to raise billions of dollars through privatizations, Saudi sources said.

The sources added that the Saudi Civil Aviation Holding Company asked local and international investment banks to provide the advisory role in the sale of a stake in King Khalid International Airport, according to the «Bloomberg».

The sources pointed out that a consultant may be appointed before the end of July, noting that the government wants to complete the sale early next year.

The sources indicated that he did not specify definitively the size of the share to be sold, and whether the sale will actually go or not.

Two sources said potential investors could include private equity firms, infrastructure funds and international airport operators.

Faisal Al Suqair, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Civil Aviation Holding Company, said that the process of allocating Dammam airport is actually starting.

In April, Al-Suqeir said Saudi airports would be transferred to the Public Investment Fund in 2018 as part of an airport privatization plan.
