Under the pretext of the missile test .. Washington bans 6 Iranian companies

    29/07/2017

The US Treasury Department announced on Friday that six companies belonging to an Iranian group have been banned under the pretext of the main role of the ballistic missile program.

The ministry said Washington had imposed "sanctions" aimed at Iran's ballistic missile program, the day after Tehran tested a missile capable of carrying satellites into orbit.

The Treasury argued that the new ban was in response to what it called "the continuing provocative actions and threat posed by Tehran to the Middle East."

The ministry said in a statement that the Office of Foreign Assets Control had banned six Iranian-owned companies owned or controlled by the Shahid Hemet industrial group.

Treasury Secretary Stephen Minocin has argued that the "sanctions" reflect deep US concerns about the test of Iranian missiles and other actions.

Iran has denied US accusations that its missile test could put satellites in orbit that violated the UN resolution, saying the American speech was a sign of bad faith toward a nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

Tehran said on Thursday it had successfully tested a "Simurg" rocket capable of carrying satellites into space.
