    Qatar Airways is expected to travel through three emergency air corridors over international waters in early August after a UN-led meeting on Monday considered air passages through which Doha could conduct flights after a dispute with its neighbors, a well-informed source said.
    The closed meeting with the governing council of the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal discussed the emergency air corridors scheduled under a broad agreement reached last month, but those corridors have yet to be opened for aircraft registered in Qatar.
    Qatar has called on the group to intervene after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt banned Qatar Airways from entering its airspace under economic sanctions.
    The four countries severed relations with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting terrorism, which Doha denies. The closure of these countries forced Qatar Airways, which is owned by the state, to operate longer and more expensive air corridors, forcing Doha to press for international flights over the Gulf waters currently run by the UAE.
    "Within a week or so, they must have new ways," said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the secrecy of the talks.
    A spokesman for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) could not be reached for comment.
    Delegates from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were also not available for comment on Monday.
    On Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency issued a statement to the Saudi General Authority for Civil Aviation stating that these countries had already agreed to provide nine emergency air corridors identified "in coordination with neighboring countries under the umbrella of the International Civil Aviation Organization as part of the program to support the safety of air navigation" A43
