The Department of Agriculture of Babylon predicted Tuesday that the production of grape fruit to 67033 tons during the current year in all regions of the province to provide the climatic conditions for him in terms of heat and light and good soil, which encouraged the expansion of agriculture to meet the need for domestic consumption.

"There is a great interest from the farmers in growing the largest number of grape trees throughout the province, especially in the south, and the production of grape fruit in the province is expected to reach 67033 tons during the current year in all areas of the province to provide," Salah al-Geshmi, director of agriculture in the province, told Al-Mada. Climatic conditions have in terms of heat and light and good soil, which encouraged the expansion of agriculture to meet the need for internal consumption.
Al-Gheshmi pointed out that "the cultivated area is estimated at 6480 dunums and includes more than 1,117,244 grape trees distributed over most of the province's orchards. The productivity of the single tree is estimated at 60 kg and the surplus quantity of the local market is marketed to the central and southern governorates."
