The Director of the National Card Project of the Directorate in the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Nashat Ibrahim Al-Khafaji said in an exclusive interview to "Al-Sabah" , Explaining that the issuance of this number of national cards to citizens, was the result of the efforts of civil status departments and work for nearly a year after the launch of the project in September last year, in order to convert the work of the civil affairs departments to the electronic system instead of the paper used Through the implementation of the mechanisms prepared for that purpose after the archives of the Civil Status Department, which is intended to be converted to the issuance of the national card and closed and reopened after a period not exceeding ten days only.
He explained that the offices that were opened to grant the unified card for citizens amounted to 135 distributed between Baghdad and the rest of the other provinces, stressing that the province of Karbala was the first holy provinces, which are converted to all civil status departments to issue the national card, while Babylon will be the second province that will see it also After the last two districts are closed in the next few days.
