British newspaper: Sadr ordered his followers to raise slogans against Saudi Arabia from the streets

The Middle East newspaper reported that the recent visit to Iraq by Muqtada al-Sadr is bearing fruit by issuing orders to his followers to remove all anti-Saudi slogans from the streets of Iraq.

The move came after the meeting of the leader of the Sadrist movement in Iraq, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh in late July, a visit to the Kingdom described by the media as "rare."

According to media sources that "Sadr and Salman discussed the future of Iraq and the impact of the referendum on the Kurdistan region of Iraq on the situation in the region and is scheduled for next September," it is reported that "both men stressed the need for a unified Iraq while recognizing the growing tensions between Baghdad and Erbil" .

"Saudi Arabia has pledged $ 10 million to help Iraqi refugees," Moqtada al-Sadr's office said.

For its part, the official Saudi Press Agency said in a statement that "the countries agreed to establish a coordination council to raise the level of relations between the two countries with the desired strategic level and open new horizons for cooperation in various fields."
She added that the two countries have achieved a "qualitative leap" in bilateral relations, stressing the importance of increasing official visits between them.

Relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia were severed after Iraqi forces entered Kuwait in 1990.
