A day after MSF announced a freeze on rescue operations for migrants in the Mediterranean, the German CIA has taken a similar step for security reasons.
The agency "Agence France Presse" on Sunday, a statement issued by the German non-governmental organization confirmed that "the CIA" with great pain is forced to follow the example of "Doctors Without Borders" because of the apparent threat of non-governmental relief organizations by the Libyan government.
"In these circumstances, it is impossible for us to continue carrying out relief operations, because it would mean irresponsible work for our crews," said the organization's founder Mikhail Boucheguer.
This came just hours after Médecins Sans Frontières announced the withdrawal of its ship from the Mediterranean Sea in order not to endanger its staff, in the face of hostile actions by the Libyan Coast Guard.
The organization also strongly criticized the Italian government for blaming the human purpose of saving human life and political and military aspirations to reduce the number of migrants arriving on the continent.
NGOs play a major role in relief operations on average, saving more than a third of the total number of migrants who have been rescued at sea since the beginning of this year, according to Reuters.
However, the relations between these organizations and the Italian government have witnessed a marked escalation of tension against the backdrop of Rome's new code of conduct, according to which Italian police are required to board boats belonging to non-governmental relief organizations and to transport any boat to immigrants who board the port by themselves. , Without handing them over to other boats, hampering rescue operations.
Italy has reached an agreement with the internationally recognized Libyan Accordance Government to coordinate efforts to reduce the number of migrants heading to the shores of the old continent on rubber boats. Illegal immigration remains an exceptional place on the European and Italian domestic agenda in particular.
