    Shafaq News / Diyala provincial council said on Wednesday, that 60% of the basic services were destroyed by “terrorism” as it emphasized that Baquba city paid a heavy price as a result of terrorist operations during a period of security deterioration.

    “60% of the basic services in Baquba have been destroyed, during the period of terrorism emergence in the past years," adding that " it makes us in front of a great challenge in the reconstruction of what have been destroyed and promote the service reality so as to contribute to overcome all the negatives created by the security deterioration stage ,” The head of Diyala provincial council, Mohammed al-Hamdani said in a statement received by “Shafaq News”.

    “Baquba city was exposed to serious damage and paid a big price due to terrorism , which destroyed everything from homes , mosques and sports stadiums “.

    It is worth mentioning that the sectarian violence in Diyala during the period between 2005 and 2007 caused the collapse of infrastructure and services fully.

    Economists estimated that the losses caused by those circumstances exceeded 600 billion dinars due to the violence, all of which are focused in 2009.
