The General Company for Iraqi Ports is heading for the construction and construction of oil berths and marine services in the port of Khor Al-Zubair, within the allocations of the Japanese loan, while starting to prepare a unified electronic management of joint operating companies operating in ports.
The spokesman of the company, Enmar al-Safi, said in a special statement to Al-Sabah: The Japanese loan authority sent invitations to Japanese companies operating in Iraq or wishing to do so, which is involved in the construction and construction of berths, to participate in the construction of two berths, one of which is oil at Khor al-Zubayr port, The project is funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
He added that the Minister of Transport Kazem Al-Yamami directed the start of the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the eastern bank of the Shatt al-Arab channel and to invite the companies to build casinos, restaurants and rest areas for the visual families, pointing to the need to invest them and that these facilities are floating and within the borders of the canal.
Al-Safi said that the Minister of Transport held an extensive meeting with the representatives of companies contracting with ports by joint operation and urged them to do more to promote the work of the port and provide the best to maximize imports and support the local economy and activate it in the province of Basra being the economic capital of Iraq.
He pointed out that it was agreed with the representatives of the joint operating companies working in the ports to unify the work and information and organize a database for the establishment of a unified electronic management at the company's headquarters and under the supervision of the electronic computer department in addition to coordination among them, and then contracting with the Ministry of Communications for the installation of servers, The sections of the electronic department in ports on the programs used in the systems of joint operators.
The Spokesman for the General Company for Iraqi Ports said that the country's ports are undergoing extensive reconstruction and rehabilitation, especially maritime berths and scientific exploitation in accordance with the international standards adopted at the international ports, revealing in the same regard a large increase in cargo and containers entering Iraq through the ports of Umm Qasr South And the north from January to mid-January.
