Jordan's trade deficit jumps to $ 6.5 billion

The trade deficit in Jordan rose by 5.3% year-on-year in the first half of this year, according to official data.
According to the monthly report issued by the Jordanian government's statistics department, the deficit reached 6.5 billion dollars during the period from January to June.
Jordan's imports rose by 3.2% to $ 9.9 billion by the end of June, while Jordan's exports abroad fell by $ 3.38 billion, compared to the same period last year.
The report attributed the decline in the value of national exports to the decline in the exports of fruits and live animals and meat to the Qatari market, in addition to the decrease in the value of exports of inorganic chemicals.
