Britain expels EU citizens from its territory
The British Foreign Office has mistakenly sent hundreds of EU citizens residing in its territory to notice that they are leaving the country within a month, the Guardian reported.
"I received a notice demanding that I leave the country within a month," the newspaper quoted Finnish citizen Johanna Holmberg as saying on her Facebook page. "If she refuses to leave, I will be in violation of immigration laws in the country."
For its part, the British Foreign Office apologized for sending similar messages to more than 100 EU citizens living in Britain.
The ministry said it would hold the culprit responsible, saying similar mistakes would not be repeated in the future.
The issue of the rights of EU citizens in the UK after leaving the EU is one of the main issues discussed by the European community.
Britain has vowed earlier that it will retain the same rights for EU citizens even after they leave.
