Egypt criticizes decision to cut US support and cancels Kouchner reception

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed its regret over Washington's decision to cut some financial aid to Egypt, warning of its negative impact on relations between the two countries. It also canceled the reception of US envoy Jared Kouchner.
The ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that Egypt considers this action "a move that reflects a misjudgment of the nature of the strategic relationship between the two countries over decades, an approach that lacks accurate understanding of the importance of supporting Egypt's stability and success of its experience and the size and nature of the economic and security challenges faced by the Egyptian people "He said.
The statement added that the US move represents "a mix of papers in a manner that may have negative repercussions on the achievement of Egyptian-American common interests."
