Fourteen people were killed and 42 others injured when a passenger bus and a transport car collided in the southern Egyptian city of Beni Suef on Monday night, the Egyptian health ministry said.
A spokesman for the ministry said the accident occurred between "a bus belonging to Upper Egypt Transport Company and a semi-transport vehicle, which led to their coup from the top of Beni Suef bridge in Beni Suef east road before Beni Suef / Cairo road."
"Ten deaths were transferred to Beni Suef General Hospital and four to Nasser Central Hospital," said Khaled Mujahid, adding that three injured people were taken to intensive care.
"The injuries ranged from post-concussion, fractures, abrasions and bruises," he said, adding that "23 ambulances were driven to the scene and the first ambulance arrived at exactly 12:40 am."
