The United States began the first concrete steps to build a wall on the border with Mexico and selected four companies to build the prototype of the wall announced by US President Donald Trump, according to the US Customs and Border Protection Agency.
The four concrete prototypes will be 9 meters long and more than 30 feet high and will be built in the coming months.
Officials will then test the walls for two months to check their hardness and ability to resist penetration using small hand tools, according to the US agency.
Each of the four contracts is valued at US $ 500,000 each.
