Turkish army: killing 99 Kurdish fighters, including a senior leader Pkk

Turkish armed forces said on Saturday that security forces killed 99 Kurdish fighters, including a senior commander in operations in southeastern Turkey during the past two weeks.

The military said in a statement that the security forces targeted sites and caves used by fighters corded in the shelter and storage in the eastern provinces of Chernak and Hakkari near the Iraqi border.
He added that the operations killed 99 Kurdish fighters, one of them leading cadres.
During the operations, which took place from August 24 to September 7, the military said it seized 420 kg of ammonium nitrate, used in the manufacture of explosives, as well as bombs, weapons and rifles.
The PKK has been waging an armed conflict against the Ankara government for more than three decades in search of more rights for some 20 million Kurds in Turkey.
