    Baghdad / Sky Press

Local media revealed the government's intention to keep US troops in Iraq after the end of military operations, and raises the subject of many questions and the intensity and pull in the statements made by officials.

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said in an interview with Fox News that he "supports the survival of a portion of US troops in his country to support Iraqi forces in a post-Saddam era."

Iraqi officials say that since the beginning of this year, US forces have developed two military bases in western and northern Iraq, one of which has become a base for launching warplanes from any area in Iraq. Airborne surveillance and radar systems have been deployed in both bases, covering all areas of Iraq and areas of neighboring countries such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey and Syria.

The Kurdistan Regional Government has signed a military agreement with the United States, which provides for the construction of five bases in areas under the control of the region.

The US military is stationed in six Iraqi bases and camps in partnership with the Iraqi forces of Al-Hakim, Ain al-Assad and Habbaniyah in western Iraq, Kawa near Erbil in the Kurdistan region, the airport in Baghdad and the Qayara in Mosul, with 11,700 soldiers, including 2,500 Marines. Consultants, trainers, monitoring and analysis officers, and technicians, as well as food and service contractors. The bases include a heavy artillery battalion in western Iraq and an Apache squadron that carries out several tasks, most notably protecting Baghdad and areas of American presence, such as the Green Zone, which houses the US Embassy and Baghdad International Airport.

In Salah al-Din, Washington is taking the base of air base to control the flights of F-16 aircraft recently granted to Iraq. In Camp Taji, north of Baghdad, there is a US force for training, according to Pentagon spokesman Steve Warren.

On the Iraqi side, the Committee on Security and Defense of the Parliament noted with knowledge of these rules, as said member of the Committee MP "Majid al-Ghrawi," that the US forces, which are present in Iraq now and increasing their number every day, are only troops intended to stay in Iraq " .
