Trump: Sanctions against North Korea are a small step

US President Donald Trump condemned the UN Security Council sanctions against North Korea as a "very small step," adding that "these sanctions are nothing compared to what should happen in the end."
Trump said he had questioned his foreign minister, Rex Tilerson, whether the sanctions would find anything at all, and that the unanimous adoption of sanctions by the Security Council member states was good.
In a related context, a North Korean diplomat said Tuesday that the United States is on the path of military confrontation with North Korea, adding that the new sanctions drafted by the United States and approved by the UN Security Council will not end the nuclear crisis.
"The sanctions and pressure campaign of the Washington regime for the total elimination of the DPRK's sovereignty and right to exist reaches a very reckless level," said Han Tae-sung, the DPRK's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva.
