South Korea seeks to identify its citizens within the families of "Dahesh"

13:23 - 12/09/2017

Information / Translation
South Korean Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that the Korean government is studying recent reports that a number of its citizens are among more than 1,000 women and children suspected of being "Daash" families.
"We are currently working with the Iraqi government, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) through our embassies in Iraq to discuss this issue," the Korean Herald newspaper quoted a South Korean Foreign Ministry statement as saying.
The foreign ministry had learned of the news from foreign media earlier but said it had "difficulty in the identification process because many of the detainees are missing official documents." Ending / 25 z
