Fifteen Marines were wounded when their amphibious assault rifle was set on fire during training in California, west of the country.
The incident took place at the Camp Pendleton base in California on Wednesday, when a Marine battalion was conducting exercises to determine its readiness to fight, military spokesman Paul Genney said.
"Officials are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the incident," the spokesman said, without elaborating.

The injured were evacuated to hospitals in the area, eight of whom were taken to the San Diego Health Center's fire treatment center, describing the condition of three critically wounded and five seriously.
Two other patients were in critical condition at the Irvine Medical Center at the University of California. C
