The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen (OCHA) revealed on Sunday that about 10 million Yemeni children need assistance because of the acute shortage of basic needs.
"The conflict in Yemen is exacerbating the basic needs of civilians and affecting their dignity, especially children," the office said in a Twitter account. "Without any further details. According to UN reports, nearly 21 million Yemenis need humanitarian assistance, while some 10 million people are in desperate need of life-saving assistance. Children are among the most affected by the war in Yemen, many of whom have been affected by malnutrition and cholera, as well as hundreds of deaths. According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), 150,000 children under the age of five have been infected with cholera in Yemen since the outbreak of the epidemic on April 27 this week. The same international organization reports that 380,000 Yemeni children under the age of five suffer from acute and severe malnutrition
