Economy News _ Baghdad The latest discovery by Indian oil and natural gas company India, India's largest oil exploration company, west of its offshore Mumbai offshore fields, has reserves estimated at 20 million tonnes, two sources said. The production of the Mumbai field of oil and natural gas annually about 9 million to 10 million tons of oil equivalent. The company discovered oil and gas reserves in western Mumbai in a well in July. The sources told Reuters the company tested nine layers in the well. "One layer produces more than 3,000 barrels per day of oil alone and there are deeper layers that contain both oil and gas," one source said. "It is a great discovery of Indian standards," the source said. On the other hand, the two sources revealed that the company is now planning to drill appraisal wells to determine the size of the extractable reserve in the new detection. The oil and natural gas company is keen to boost production because most of its production comes from mature fields. |
