    "Saudi Arabia was about to launch a war on Qatar," the Times reported in an article published by the London-based Bell Tru.

    "Saudi Arabia and its allies were planning a military attack on Qatar before US President Donald Trump intervened and persuaded them to do the opposite.

     

    "Trump intervened amid fears that the crisis, which began when four countries - Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain, cut ties with Qatar, accusing Eha of supporting terrorism and extremism, would escalate into a regional war.

     

    "According to Bloomberg, Trump intervened after the four countries imposed a blockade on Qatar and the four countries closed airspace and shipping routes and expelled Qataris, in the Gulf's biggest diplomatic crisis in decades.

    "Saudi Arabia and the UAE were thinking of launching a military attack against Qatar," two sources told Bloomberg, but Trump intervened to prevent it, saying the attack would lead to a crisis that would benefit Iran.

    True says the blockade of Qatar has led to Doha to use Turkey, Iran and Oman to provide food and necessary flight routes.

     

    Trump is partly blamed for stirring up the current crisis when he said in one of his speeches in June that Qatar was "heavily funded" for terrorism.

     

    Trump quoted Bloomberg as saying that Trump had conducted a series of telephone calls to all parties, saying the crisis would distract Washington's allies as it tries to form a united front against Iran
