[rtl]"Germany and the United States are different on how to deal with the confrontation with North Korea," German Chancellor Angela Merkel said, while condemning US President Donald Trump's threat to "completely destroy" North Korea.[/rtl]
[rtl]Merkel considered sanctions and diplomacy the only way to persuade the nuclear-armed state to sit down at the negotiating table.[/rtl]
[rtl]"I am against such threats. We consider any kind of military solution totally inappropriate and we insist on a diplomatic solution," Merkel told Deutsche Welle television when asked about Trump's remarks during the UN General Assembly.[/rtl]
[rtl]"From my point of view, the sanctions and their application is the right response, but I think everything that is wrong with North Korea is wrong," she said.[/rtl]
[rtl]Merkel said she told Trump in a telephone call a few days ago that a diplomatic solution must be found.[/rtl]
