    [ltr]The US Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green on Thursday announced the provision of nearly $ 264 million in additional humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people by the United States.[/ltr]
    [ltr]"The United States has decided to provide approximately $ 264 million in additional humanitarian aid to the people of Iraq, and so far, the US government has provided nearly 107," Green said, according to the US Embassy in Baghdad, in a press release issued by Mawazine News.     [ltr]"Through this new assistance, the United States provides food assistance, additional food support in emergency situations, safe drinking water, hygiene kits, public health development, emergency shelter, basic health care, medicines and protection of displaced Iraqis."[/ltr]
    [ltr]"This aid will be used to help families and communities displaced by the brutal rule of organization, some of whose members return home to find themselves facing a host of challenges, including continued violence and loss of their homes and livelihoods," she said.[/ltr]
