    Alsumaria News / Baghdad
Energy Minister of the UAE, Suhail Al Mazroui, the first nuclear power plant in the country will begin work next year.

"The first reactor to be launched by the UAE at the Baraka site in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has been completed by 96 per cent," Al Mazrouei said .

The UAE is looking to contribute about 25% of its energy mix by 2021 and 50% by 2050.

The minister said that "Nawaat Energy, will get a license to operate next year."

Nuclea Energy, a joint venture between Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO), was established to manage the Baraka plant.

In May, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) announced the arrival of the first nuclear fuel shipments needed to operate the Baraka nuclear power plant.

The UAE relies on the production of electricity on gas stations operating on Qatari LNG, which reaches through the Dolphin, which covers about 20% of the needs of the state, and more than half of the requirement of the Emirate of Dubai to produce electricity.

Despite the outbreak of the Gulf-Qatar crisis on the backdrop of accusing Doha of supporting terrorism, the latter did not cut gas supplies from the UAE.
