[rtl]The Geneva-based Human Rights Council decided to send a UN fact-finding team to monitor the war in Yemen and identify those responsible.[/rtl]
[rtl]The Council approved the establishment of an independent international mechanism on such violations.[/rtl]
[rtl]Yemeni rights activists described the decision as an important breakthrough, saying it was a small step in the right direction.[/rtl]
[rtl]"There is a need to conduct a credible international investigation to find out the facts and circumstances surrounding the violations in a comprehensive, transparent, independent and impartial manner in order to put an end to the cycle of impunity in Yemen," the delegation said on Saturday.[/rtl]
[rtl]Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition of Arab countries since the beginning of 2015, bombing Yemeni cities controlled by the Yemeni army and the popular committees, and accused by a number of local and international human rights organizations of widespread violations against civilians.[/rtl]
