A spokesman for the Iranian armed forces Brigadier Massoud Jazairi announced a joint exercise between Iran and Iraq in the coming days in the western border of Iran.
"A meeting was held this morning under the chairmanship of the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Bagher, in line with Iran's policies based on respect for Iraq's unity and the preservation of all its territory. Between the two countries".
He added that "during this meeting, the emphasis on the territorial integrity and unity of Iraq and the illegality of the referendum on secession in northern Iraq, and made necessary decisions in order to establish security on the border and the stability of Iraqi forces at the border crossings."
"During the meeting, it was decided to hold a joint exercise in the coming days between the Iranian armed forces and units of the Iraqi army at the common border and in border areas starting from the palace of Shirin to the borders of Pervez Khan and the border of Bashmak in Mariwan and Haddud Tamaran in Piranshahr."
