    [ltr]Follow up of Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]The man, suspected of attacking a policeman with a knife before being hit by four people on a small truck, said Sunday that he was a Somali asylum seeker in Edmonton, western Canada.[/ltr]
[ltr]Local media reported that Abdulhadi Hassan Sharif, 30, was known to the intelligence services.[/ltr]
[ltr]Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner Marilyn Dogran said the suspect was a Somali who applied for refugee status.[/ltr]
[ltr]"We can confirm that a complaint was made in 2015" against this man, he told a news conference.[/ltr]
[ltr]Dugran did not confirm the suspect's name, but said the intelligence services had heard his testimony in 2015 as part of an investigation into the risk of attacks by extremist people who espouse radical ideas.[/ltr]
[ltr]Dugran said that after hearing him in 2015, "there was not enough evidence to prosecute him for terrorist charges."[/ltr]
[ltr]The assistant police commissioner said that at the time "the suspect was not considered a threat to Canada."[/ltr]
[ltr]On Saturday night, the suspect on a pickup truck overturned an iron barricade before being hit by a police officer who was stationed at the scene, lifting him about 5 meters into the air, according to a surveillance camera.[/ltr]
[ltr]Edmundton Police Chief Rod Knuckett said that "the suspect deliberately hit the pedestrians in their assigned places or on the sidewalks," resulting in 5 wounded in two different places.[/ltr]
