The Times published an editorial in which it spoke of renewed debate over Iran's nuclear program and the position of US President Donald Trump on the agreement between Tehran and the superpowers.
The Times says Trump is heading for a new confrontation, this time with Tehran, which is believed to be deceiving the West. The US president is keen to emphasize that he intends to review the terms of the agreement with Iran, describing it as the worst agreement involving the United States.
Despite the many shortcomings in the agreement, unilateral withdrawal is wrong, because it disrupts Iran's program and seeks nuclear weapons.
But the Times believes that Trump is right to say that the agreement between Iran, the United States, Britain, Russia, China, France and the European Union has overlooked important issues, and in fact allowed Iran to use its funds to lift sanctions in funding its military campaigns abroad.
Iran, the newspaper adds, supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by deploying its Revolutionary Guards in Syria, funding Hizballah militias and supplying Hamas with rockets.
According to The Times, the agreement initiated by former US President Barack Obama has not made Iran a peace force in the world, but has strengthened its hostile activities, it is cooperating with North Korea in the development of ballistic missiles.
According to the newspaper, what is required is to strike the agreement without completely eliminating it. And believes that the blockade of Iran is possible with the help of Russia because Moscow is working with Tehran in Syria but their interests do not intersect, far from the survival of Assad in power.
