    [ltr]The Turkish prosecutor on Monday issued a new arrest warrant against a US consulate employee in Istanbul.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The decision came after the Turkish embassy in Washington announced the suspension of visas to enter Turkish territory, in an angry reaction to the suspension of US non-immigrant visa services at its diplomatic facilities in Turkey, following the arrest of a consular officer.[/ltr]
    [ltr]"Recent events have forced the Turkish government to reassess the commitment of the US government to the security of the facilities and personnel of the Turkish mission," the Turkish embassy said on its Twitter account.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The US embassy in the Turkish capital Ankara issued a statement on Twitter on Sunday, saying that recent events forced it to "re-evaluate the commitment of the Turkish government to the security of facilities and personnel of the US mission."[/ltr]
    [ltr]Turkish authorities recently arrested a Turkish official at the US consulate for alleged links to the US-based cleric Fathullah Gulen, who was blamed by the Turkish government for the failed coup last summer. Gulen denies involvement in the coup attempt[/ltr]
