[ltr]A Jordanian source expressed concern about the impact of the separation of the Kurdistan region from Iraq, if approved, on the progress of the oil pipeline project to Jordan.[/ltr]
[ltr]The source said according to the Jordanian news agency Al-Ghad, that the company assigned to the tender project implemented most of its projects within the Kurdistan region; where the project is implemented cement plant and renewable energy plants.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Iraqi government earlier referred the tender for the project to Mas International.[/ltr]
[ltr]MAS Holdings is part of Mas Holding Group, a company operating in four key areas in the Middle East: power generation, cement production, iron and steel production, and real estate development. In the energy sector, the company currently has about 4,000 megawatts of power generation in Kurdistan / Iraq, in addition to 3000 MW under development in Baghdad.[/ltr]
[ltr]In this regard, the source pointed out that the Iraqi government is currently reviewing the project financing model at the request of the executing company to re-study the method of financial payment, so that the company will receive its dues for the implementation of the project instead of money.[/ltr]
[ltr]Accordingly, the government is currently considering the optimal payment method that serves the project, which is expected to be implemented on the ground during the first quarter of next year.[/ltr]
[ltr]It is noteworthy that the Iraqi side decided in June last June to cancel the gas pipeline, which was supposed to be accompanied by the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline in order to reduce the costs of the pipeline project between the two countries to accelerate its completion, while the purpose of this pipeline pumping stations operated on The extension of the main pipeline, ie the oil pipeline, in addition to supplying Jordan with any quantities that are surplus to the need of pumping stations in case Jordan needs any quantities of this gas.[/ltr]
[ltr]The project development and management contract was extended to 25 years instead of 20 years prior to delivery to the Government of Jordan as part of the project's economic improvement measures to motivate the developer to speed up the project.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Kingdom signed with Iraq on April 9, 2013 a framework agreement to extend a pipeline to transport Iraqi crude oil from Basra to the port of export in the port of Aqaba at a total cost of the project amounting to about $ 18 billion.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Iraqi government will bear the cost of constructing the pipeline from Basra to Najaf, while the line will be completed from Najaf to the Jordanian border according to a method that will be built according to the BOT system.[/ltr]
[ltr]The project includes a 60-km sub-pipeline reaching the Jordanian oil refinery in the city of Zarqa (20 km east of Amman) and will then continue to the export terminal in Aqaba. The pipeline line from Basra to Aqaba will transfer more than two million barrels of refined oil per day. M[/ltr]
