China's foreign currency reserves rose in September for the eighth month in a row more than the markets had expected, with inflows outstripping tightening controls and rising yuan.
"The cash reserve rose 17 billion dollars in September to 3.109 trillion dollars, compared to 10.5 billion in August," the central bank said on Monday.
This is the first time that China's reserves have jumped for the eighth month in a row since June 2014, and its level is the highest since October last year.
Economists had expected the reserves to increase by $ 8 billion to $ 3.1 trillion.
On the other hand, China's gold reserves have not changed significantly to 59.24 million ounces in September, compared to the previous month, the central bank said. Ending / 25 g
