Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Thursday that the army will not be used against the people or to fight a war against the Kurdish citizens, pointing out to strive to accelerate the restoration of stability and the closure of displaced persons camps and the return of every displaced citizen to his home.
"We will not use our army against our people or fight a war against our Kurdish and other citizens," Abadi said during his meeting with a press conference. "It is our duty to preserve the unity of the country, the implementation of the constitution and the protection of citizens and national wealth."
"We will not allow the return to square one and the return of sectarian and divisional discourse," he said, adding that "the government is working hard to speed up the restoration of stability."
The Prime Minister stressed "the need to close camps for the displaced and to return every displaced person to his home as soon as possible and to maintain the success achieved in Anbar."
