[rtl]CAIRO - The death toll from California's wildfire has risen to 33, with the wind rising to firefighters.[/rtl]
[rtl]The teams used trained dogs to locate the victims of the worst fire disaster in US history.[/rtl]
[rtl]"We have not come out of this state of emergency, so we are not close," California emergency director Mark Gillardochi told a news conference on Friday. "But we are seeing some progress."[/rtl]
[rtl]More than 9,000 firefighters were fighting Friday to extinguish 17 fires, mostly in the northern part of the state, said Ken Bismlut, California's Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.[/rtl]
[rtl]The fires, which broke out on Sunday, swept through the state, especially wine-producing areas, displacing thousands of people and destroying some 90,000 hectares of land.[/rtl]
[rtl]In an earlier toll, the Department of Forests and Fire Protection announced on Thursday that the disaster had killed 31 people. Rob Giordano, the local official for the worst-hit Sonoma region, said his department received about 1,100 missing persons.[/rtl]
