French Foreign Minister Jean-Louis Laudrian on Saturday urged the US Congress to reconsider and maintain Iran's nuclear deal.
"We strongly hope that Congress will not reconsider the agreement because it now bears responsibility for its possible collapse," Lourdien was quoted by Agence France-Presse as saying.
Lourdes stressed France's willingness to engage in "very difficult negotiations" with Tehran on other issues such as its missile program and its regional role.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced a new strategy for a tougher country against Iran.
According to Trump, the United States holds Iran responsible for "destabilizing the region" and will seek to urge the international community to put pressure on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
Trump expressed his refusal to recognize Iran's commitment to the nuclear agreement signed between it and the six-party group, calling it "one of the worst" agreements in the history of the United States.
