    The German Defense Minister Ursula von der Lien, in contact with Abadi, thanked the Iraqi government and its position, which she described as "positive", about the crisis in the Kurdistan region. "
    In a telephone conversation, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson praised "the central Iraqi government's position and the wisdom of dealing with this crisis," stressing that "efforts are concentrated at the present time on fighting an oppressive organization." 
    During the phone call, the two sides discussed the process of law enforcement and the redeployment of Iraqi federal forces in the province of Kirkuk. 
    "The British government is aware that the referendum was a mistake and I told the president of the region to do so before he took this step and wanted to dissuade him from it," he said. 
    Abadi discussed the latest political and security developments at the internal and international levels with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit in a telephone call he received on Thursday.
    "The local police in Kirkuk are protecting the security, the situation is stable in the province and we are watching it closely," he said. "There are those who are trying to make the media problematic and we will not allow it." Aboul Gheit praised the courage and boldness of Abadi and his leadership and wisdom in dealing with the crisis of the referendum, stressing that "the importance of seeking dialogue to maintain the spirit of brotherhood Arab Kurdish," noting that "things have begun to improve and there are signs of détente.
