    [ltr]Baghdad - Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Saturday called on all countries in the world to cooperate to prevent the proliferation of banned weapons.[/ltr]
[ltr]"Jaafari received Japan's ambassador to Baghdad, Fumio Iwai, to discuss international issues of common interest and the draft resolution that Japan intends to put forward at the United Nations on the reduction of nuclear weapons," a foreign ministry statement said.[/ltr]
[ltr]Jaafari said that "the Iraqi people were exposed to chemical weapons in Halabja, followed by thousands of citizens of the Kurds victim of Saddam's crimes, so all countries of the world must cooperate to prevent the proliferation of prohibited weapons," expressing "Iraq's full support for the draft resolution to be put forward by Japan in the United Nations And to make every effort to support this resolution, because it concerns the protection of man and the land from destruction. "[/ltr]
[ltr]For his part, said the Ambassador of Japan to Baghdad, "We note our great interest in supporting Iraq's draft resolution to be put in the international forums to reduce nuclear weapons," again "thanks to the facilities provided by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad."[/ltr]
