President Fuad Masoum stressed the importance of developing relations between Baghdad and Tehran.
This came during a meeting in Baghdad yesterday, Saeed Awadhi, senior adviser to the Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Yitzhak Jahangiri and the delegation accompanying him. During the meeting, Masoum stressed "the depth of the historical relations between Tehran and Baghdad," adding that "Iraq is interested in developing them in all fields in the interest of the two neighboring peoples."
He also stressed "the need for coordination between the two countries in the field of protecting oil prices in world markets for the benefit of the oil exporting countries," referring to the importance of OPEC support as well as cooperation to contribute to maintaining security and stability in the region, especially in the fight against terrorism in the long term Strategy.
"The Islamic Republic is keen to develop its relations with Iraq in all fields and to continue to assist the Iraqi people in their fight against terrorism," he said.[/rtl]
