    The letter called upon the UN Security Council to "begin, in accordance with its mandate, to ensure peace and security on the Korean peninsula, to eliminate the source of the worsening situation of war and tension on the Korean peninsula and to contribute in practice to peace and security in the world."
    "If the UN Security Council ignores our request this time, it ignores not only a just cause, it also shows more clearly that it has abandoned its mission and the confidence of the international community and turned it into a political tool for one country," said Pyongyang.
