BAGHDAD - The
Ministry of Electricity, on Friday, two investment contracts for the construction of six solar power stations with a capacity of 465 megawatts in the provinces of Anbar and Babylon.

"The ministry has signed two contracts for the installation and operation of six solar photovoltaic stations with the Sama Baghdad Company, a joint venture with Blue Sky Corporation, with a total capacity of (465) megawatts in the provinces of Anbar and Babil), in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry for Distribution and Transport Affairs Dr. Abdul Hamza Hadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Production and Projects, Eng. Adel Jarayan and a number of Directors General of the Ministry.
"The two contracts were concluded by the General Directorate for the production of electric power in the central region and the General Directorate for the production of electric power in the Middle Euphrates with the company (Sama Baghdad) Jordan, which is associated with the company (Blue Sky) US to install and operate six photovoltaic stations five of them in Anbar province is (Ramadi production capacity 100 MW, Faluja with a capacity of 40 MW, Amriya Al Samoud with a production capacity of 50 MW and Karma with a production capacity of 50 MW. The total production capacity is 240 MW, while the 6th station is the Alexandria station in Babil Governorate A production capacity of (225) megawatts.
The teacher said that the period of implementation of the project is (8) months and an investment period of (15) years, and the Ministry will buy electricity from the company invested at 3.5 and three and a half cents per kilowatt-hour, ie (36) dollars per megawatt.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Abd al-Hamza Hadi, expressed his great happiness and optimism such a contract with a US investment company, which he considered a new direction of the Ministry to invest the light of the sun to generate electricity, indicating that Iraq enjoys the light of the sun in large quantities and throughout the year, making investment this blessing Is positive in increasing the production capacity of the national electrical system, which is reflected in the increase in hours of processing for citizens.
For his part, the representative of the Embassy and the American company in Iraq expressed their happiness at the conclusion of this contract, saying that we will work with all our efforts with the Ministry of Electricity to provide a good, clean and non-high-priced electrical card. We are also pleased with the work of the private sector in the USA with the Ministry of Electricity. A positive step and invested in Iraq.
