The dollar fell on Monday after hitting its biggest weekly gain this year as investors took profits.
The dollar's net position fell to a three-month low of nearly $ 8 billion, nearly half of a month earlier, according to Reuters calculations and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's data released last week.
Investors' sentiment towards the dollar has undergone a major shift in recent weeks thanks to strong data and expectations of a new Federal Reserve chairman leaning towards monetary tightening.
The dollar index, which tracks the performance of the currency against a basket of rival actions, fell 0.2 percent to 94.70 but remains well below a three-month high of 95.150 hit on Friday.
At the same time, the euro rose 0.20 percent to $ 1.1632 after a drop in Spanish borrowing costs as fears eased after a poll published earlier this week showed supporters of the Catalonia secession could lose their majority in December elections.
The dollar was broadly steady against the Japanese currency at 113.58 yen after hitting a three-month high of 114.45 yen on Friday.
