[ltr]"We have more than 300 passengers stranded since Monday and so far at Ankara airport and there are other passengers at Istanbul's Ataturk airport and three planes have arrived from Baghdad to Ankara and Ataturk airports in Istanbul, but the pilots," the passengers said in an appeal to the Mawazine News office on Tuesday evening. [ltr]The air traffic controllers decided on Sunday to stop air monitoring of civilian aircraft exclusively at Iraqi airports, which could cause the cancellation of flights at the airports of Baghdad and Basra on Tuesday evening.
"Air traffic controllers continue for the second day of the strike at Baghdad and Basra airports," said one air traffic officer at Baghdad International Airport.
The source added that "the air observation staff appealed to the Iraqi government to respond to their demands, which include the calculation of financial allocations to them as the foreign company operating in Iraqi airports." Adding that "the government is making fictitious wages for employees of the company Sirco Air compared to the Iraqi air navigation staff."
He pointed out that the demands of navigation personnel also include amending the law of protection of the air controller, which provides for 15 years imprisonment for unintentional killing in the event of any technical malfunction of aircraft, and this decision is unique compared to the rest of the world.
He also confirmed that the landing of aircraft at the airports of Baghdad and Basra will actually stop after 5 pm today, where the term of employment of the employees of the company Serco.[/ltr]
