    [ltr]BAGHDAD (Reuters) - US government officials met Monday with Basra Governor As'ad al-Eidani and provincial council head Waleed Kitan to launch the "Tamkul" project, which supports Iraqi government reforms to boost public financial management and improve basic public service delivery.[/ltr]
    [ltr]"US Consul General Timmy Davis and USAID Deputy Director William Patterson met with Basra Governor As'ad al-Eidani, the head of the provincial council Waleed Kitan, and members of the US Embassy in Iraq," Mawazine News reported. Others in the provincial council on November 6, "indicating that" the purpose of the meeting is to introduce the new project for the performance and accountability of good governance in Iraq (USAID), known in Arabic as "Takamul".[/ltr]
    [ltr]"The Takamol project will support the Iraqi government's reforms to strengthen public financial management and improve the delivery of basic public services," she said. "For example, the assistance provided by the Progress project of Takamul supported the Wasit governorate Garbage collection services for residents of 16 municipalities throughout Wasit. "[/ltr]
    [ltr]The project will continue to support the government of Iraq to enhance the provision of public services to all Iraqis, "the statement said.[/ltr]
    [ltr]He pointed out that "the Takamul project will start its activities in the region by holding training courses in the field of public financial management and service delivery later this month."[/ltr]
