The Ukrainian government has canceled the agreement on the mutual supply of arms and military equipment with Moscow, signed 12 years ago.

The cancellation of the agreement, which dates back to February 8, 1995, follows a decree issued by the government in Ukraine yesterday.

Last August, the Ukrainian government canceled another agreement with Moscow, signed in 2003, which would have co-operated with the aim of exporting military equipment to third parties.

Ukrainian military supplies to Russia have been suspended since March 2014, against the backdrop of the recent annexation of the Crimea to its territory following a unilateral referendum.

In June 2014, Ukrainian President Petro-Yushchenko approved a ban on military cooperation with Russia.
