Mubasher: The US Congress has asked Twitter, Facebook and Alfabet to provide information on Russia's purchases from their advertising that may have been used to manipulate US energy markets, press reports said .
Republican Lamar Smith, chairman of the Congressional Science, Space and Technology Committee, told Bloomberg on Friday that technology experts said in telephone conversations that they would send the information soon .
The committee sent a request to technology companies to obtain information on Russian entities to buy any advertisements or counter-promotions against fossil fuels .
Smith said the committee had asked for documents or contacts on information about the source of the ads paid for so-called green initiatives .
Congressional investigators began to look at the possibility that Russia was seeking to influence the energy markets, after being involved in charges of trying to influence the US elections.
Kremlin members are involved in spending on ads with split messages between June 2015 and May 2017.
