Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday urged Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi to work to stop the killings of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
This came during a bilateral meeting between Trudeau and Suu Kyi, who gathered in Vietnam on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, according to a press release by Bob Ray, the Canadian delegate to Myanmar.
"The meeting was organized to talk about the continuing massacre against the Rohingya in Myanmar, which has a Buddhist majority," said Ray, who attended the Trudo and Su Chi meetings.
"It is important that the details of the meeting be read directly from the Canadian prime minister," he said.
"More efforts are needed in the context of the Rohingya crisis," he said.
"From the point of view of the Myanmar leader, they are doing what they can under difficult circumstances," he said.
